On Saturday June 3rd, at the occasion of World Environment Day 2017, Aquarelle Group celebrated its second “Aquarelle Environment Day” across our facilities of Quatre-Bornes, Surinam, Solitude and Grand-bois.
Under this year’s theme of “Connecting People with Nature”, over 200 employees of Aquarelle Clothing Ltd. and 30 pupils from the local Nuckchady Public School participated in the event in order to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage people to become active agents and adopt a greener approach in our day to day life.
Among other activities, a sharing session was organized by local NGO “Mission Verte” on environmental issues and innovative recycling; a clean-up of our factories’ neighborhood was done and endemic trees and plants were planted. Finally, Aquarelle employees gathered at local shopping malls to distribute reusable bags and encourage people to participate in making their environment safer, cleaner and more prosperous for the future.
Eric Dorchies, CEO of Aquarelle noted: “We at Aquarelle are dedicated to adopt greener practices in our operations to continually reduce our environmental footprint. With today’s initiatives, across the whole Ciel Textile Group, we aim to connect people with nature and contribute to the well-being of the community and ensure a better future for our children”.

In 2016, Aquarelle manufactured over 16 million shirts and employed more than 10,000 people across 11 facilities in Mauritius, Madagascar and India.
